Rock & Mineral ID

Hands-on introduction to geology focusing on the minerals, energy types and forces that are involved in rock formation.  VSSEC educators will bring all necessary materials to your school.

Students:

  • Use a rock cookbook to create a ‘recipe’ to create different types of rocks.
  • Employ flow charts to identify rocks and the minerals that make up the rocks ‘ingredients’.
  • Examine the different types of energy and forces acting on rock formation .
  • Explore the real word applications of minerals in everyday items.
  • Available to Victorian Government Schools only.
